Acupuncture And Chinese Medicine
Chinese medicine is a holistic approach to diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease (or illness).
Rather than focusing on an individual symptom, a practitioner forms their diagnosis based on the entire functioning of the body. By identifying patterns of disharmony, a suitable course of treatment is selected, either utilising one or a combination of therapies, most commonly, acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, gua sha, tuina massage, cupping or moxibustion.
The aim of a Chinese medicine practitioner is to improve symptoms, but most importantly, to treat the root cause of disease.
This approach not only prevents the recurrence of the condition, but also aids in the rebalancing of the body overall, and promotes a stronger functioning so that the body is in a condition where disease is less likely.
Research now indicates that Chinese medicine (the use of acupuncture, herbs and other techniques) can be effective in treating diseases including, but not limited to, anxiety, insomnia, stress, infertility, gout, digestive disorders, skin conditions, inflammation, body pain and circulatory issues.
Ellie trained for 4 years in Canada and is passionate about Chinese medicine. She is a full member of the Acupuncture Society. More details about Ellie can be found on her website: www.acupuncturedevon.co.uk
